This course is about the study of prehistoric and recent rock art worldwide from an anthropological and cross-cultural perspective. Provide a strong understanding of what rock art is, how it is recorded, analyzed, and interpreted by archaeologists, and why ancient symbolism and sites are considered important in contemporary society. Sophomore standing.

Greg has been teaching several archaeology courses over the years including Introduction to Archaeology, World Prehistory, Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, and the Archaeology of Rock Art at various Colorado colleges and universities.
He holds an MA in Anthropology/Archaeology and an MBA, both from the University of Colorado Denver. He is the author of various public and peer-reviewed articles on rock art and a recently-published book on world prehistory titled “The Long Walk Here: A Short Prehistory of Humanity”.
He has been working in archaeology in Colorado, California, Virginia, and Great Britain for nearly 40 years and is a Registered Professional Archaeologist.
In addition to working in archaeology Greg is the principal/owner of a business that manages non-profit associations in various states, and he understands the challenges of balancing an academic career with an outside job and family … something all-to-familiar to many students today.
